Holiday Mocktails

The holiday season is in full swing! Moderate consumption of alcohol is by no means something you need to be afraid of or omit this holiday season but for some, we may be looking for alternative ways to celebrate. We are highlighting some ways to enjoy a fizzy drink without the alcohol.

To make a good mocktail, you generally need three basic, core ingredients:

  • Something fizzy

  • Something sweet

  • A bit of citrus, spice, or herb

If you have these basics, you can create a surprisingly fun drink for any time of day or event!

Kombucha can be used for something fizzy and has also been tied to having probiotic benefits for gut health (Note: commercially produced kombucha must contain less than .5% alcohol by volume to be sold as a non-alcoholic beverage, home brewed kombuchas are not regulated and may contain more). There are also large varieties of sparkling waters on the market. Picking a flavor that compliments your drink can help elevate the flavors!

Let’s get creative!

Ginger Juice Mocktail

  • 6-8oz of ginger kombucha

  • Juice from one whole orange

  • ¼-1tsp of fresh ginger (to desired taste)

  • Squeeze of lime

  • Garnish with Fresh mint leaves

Christmas Punch

  • 4oz pineapple juice

  • 2oz cranberry juice

  • 2oz Sparkling pineapple water

  • 1 rosemary sprig

  • 3-5 cranberries to garnish

Pomegranate Fizz

  • 2oz Sparkling water (either cranberry or pomegranate)

  • 2oz cranberry juice

  • 4oz ginger ale

  • Sprig of rosemary

  • Garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds

You can vary the measurements to suit your preference for sweetness or tartness. Have fun with it, try different flavor combinations and brand options! If a recipe needs to be a touch sweeter, you want to work with something that will quickly dissolve such as a simple syrup, maple syrup, or any liquid sweetener of choice.

If you try out one of our drinks be sure to share or tag us on any of our social media platforms! We would love to see how you’ve gotten creative and been celebrating. Enjoy the season!
